Latiff’s move to NMG comes after a successful six-year stint at Spice FM, where he hosted The Situation Room. Dubbed Kenya’s Biggest Conversation, the program became a defining feature of morning radio under his leadership.

Reflecting on his time at Spice FM, Latiff reminisced about the show’s early days, which he co-hosted with CT Muga, Ndu Okoh, and Njeri Thorne, launching it on August 20, 2019.

“Turning on the microphones that morning was both exciting and nerve-wracking. Would the format resonate? Would people welcome four hours of uninterrupted talk during their busy commutes?” he recalled.

The show’s impact surpassed expectations, setting new standards in Kenyan media. Latiff acknowledged the contributions of the entire team, including producer Brian Evusa, Programmes Controller Brian Obara, and Radio General Manager Tom Japanni, for its success.

Latiff’s distinguished career is filled with pioneering achievements, such as helping to launch Family FM and Family TV, Kameme FM, and K24—Kenya’s first religious media house, vernacular radio station, and 24-hour news channel, respectively.

In his farewell message on January 6, 2025, Latiff reflected on his journey with The Situation Room and took pride in its growth.

“It’s been an incredible experience shaping The Situation Room into what it is today. The audience has always been the most important part of the show,” he shared, expressing heartfelt appreciation to his listeners.
