This incident comes at the end of the festive season, a time when many people are returning to work after the holidays.
The holiday period had already recorded several fatal accidents, including a tragic December 23 crash on the Narok-Mai Mahiu Highway that claimed eight lives.
In that incident, two trailers were involved in separate crashes at the same location. The first trailer collided with a Narok Line matatu, a Premio, and a bus, killing three matatu passengers.
Shortly afterward, another trailer hit a Prado and a Bodaboda, resulting in five more fatalities—three from the Prado and two Bodaboda passengers.
Additionally, on January 3, nine people lost their lives in an early morning crash in the Soy area along the Eldoret-Kitale Highway.
That accident occurred when a Great Rift Shuttle collided with a lorry, leaving the PSV driver among the casualties.
