Egypt’s tourism sector has reached a historic milestone, generating over $14 billion in revenue over the past eleven months, marking a 7.8% increase—the highest ever recorded. This achievement was driven by a 3.97% rise in tourist arrivals, reaching 14.3 million, and a 7.8% increase in the number of tourist nights, which totaled 151.3 million.
A significant portion of this revenue came from Saudi tourists, who spent around $1.5 billion, making Saudi Arabia one of Egypt’s top sources of visitors, alongside Germany, England, and Russia. Saudi tourists alone accounted for half of all Arab visitors to Egypt, with 1.5 million arrivals, reflecting the strong ties between the two nations.
Tourism experts forecast continued growth in 2025, provided that regional geopolitical conditions stabilize. Sameh Saad, a former advisor to Egypt’s tourism ministry, emphasized that the sector has experienced consistent positive growth for two years in a row.
Tourism remains a vital component of Egypt’s economy, with the sector growing by 8.2% in the first quarter of the 2024/2025 fiscal year, contributing significantly to the country’s overall 3.5% economic growth.
