Ichung’wah Accuses Gachagua of Plotting Abductions to Frame Ruto, Slams Natembeya.

National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah has now linked the recent surge in abductions to the impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Ichung’wah, who has faced criticism from his former ally-turned-foe since Gachagua’s impeachment, accused him of facilitating the kidnappings while shifting the blame to President William Ruto. During a burial service for National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula’s mother, Maayi Nanyama, in Bungoma County on Friday, Ichung’wah directly attacked Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, who had criticized the government for the ongoing disappearances of youths. Ichung’wah rebuked Natembeya for the remarks, calling him out for his role in similar killings during his time as Rift Valley Regional Commissioner.

Ichung’wah claimed that Natembeya, as Regional Commissioner, was responsible for abductions and murders in Kerio Valley and the dumping of bodies in River Yala. He said, “When you killed people and put them in River Yala, you were the one in charge of abductions and murders, Governor! Shame on you! You have no right to accuse the government of abductions when you were complicit in similar acts during the previous administration.”

The Kikuyu MP continued, accusing Natembeya of collaborating with Gachagua to orchestrate the kidnappings to tarnish President Ruto’s image. He further accused the Governor of fueling divisive tribal politics, similar to Gachagua’s tactics, in a bid to stir division and disunity among Kenyans.

“You were a political leader promoting tribalism, and the former Deputy President was behind the abductions to smear William Ruto. We know you, and we see you clearly. We will expose you publicly, and you won’t intimidate us,” Ichung’wah declared. “Your divisive politics will fail, and we won’t let you destroy this nation with your tribal rhetoric.”

Ichung’wah also responded to Natembeya’s criticism of COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli, who had suggested that some individuals may be staging their own abductions to cause chaos and blame the government. Ichung’wah defended Atwoli, urging Natembeya to report any information on the abductors to the investigative agencies.

“Governor Natembeya, if you know who is behind the abductions, as a former Regional Commissioner, you should provide the information to the DCI so they can investigate. Don’t attack Atwoli for saying some people might be staging their own abductions,” he said.

Ichung’wah also reprimanded Natembeya for his behavior, especially at funerals, and urged him to show respect to others. “You’ve been disrespecting Wetangula at every funeral. If Tim is your friend, remember he is Wetangula’s brother. Show respect, and we will respect you in return!”
