A fire broke out in Kikuyu town near a footbridge along the Southern Bypass in Nairobi, destroying property of an unknown value. The blaze began on Friday afternoon and was still raging at the time of this report.
The cause of the fire remains unclear, while residents expressed frustration over the delayed response from fire and emergency services, despite reaching out for help. A TikTok live feed showed a witness telling CNN journalist Larry Madowo that emergency responders took 40 minutes to arrive at the scene.

Videos shared by Kenyans.co.ke revealed large flames and thick smoke rising into the sky, as residents rushed to save their belongings, including gas cylinders. Nearby businesses, such as a mattress shop and a butchery, were also affected. The traffic on the service lane of the bypass came to a halt, with curious onlookers gathering to watch how first responders were handling the situation.
