Kenya Power has announced the restoration of electricity following a widespread outage that disrupted most parts of the country early Wednesday morning.
The utility company acknowledged the outage in a notice issued at 1:28 a.m., stating that large sections of Kenya were without power, with only parts of the Western and Rift Valley regions remaining unaffected.
About six hours later, Kenya Power confirmed that electricity supply had been fully restored. “We are pleased to report that power supply has been restored to all the affected areas following a widespread outage. We thank our customers for their patience during the restoration exercise,” the company stated in a notice released at 7:35 a.m.
Serving over 9.6 million customers across the country, Kenya Power is the nation’s primary electricity provider.
The outage, which also impacted internet connectivity nationwide, is the latest in a series of recurring blackouts that have plagued Kenya over the past year.
