Wolverhampton Wanderers have reached an agreement for Vitor Pereira to become their new manager after parting ways with Gary O’Neil, as reported on Tuesday.
The BBC stated that the Premier League club would pay approximately one million euros ($1 million) to bring Pereira, currently managing Saudi Pro League club Al-Shabab, to England’s top division.
Sky News added that personal terms have been finalized, and the 56-year-old is set to sign a one-and-a-half-year contract.
Pereira is believed to be flying to England on Tuesday, with an official announcement expected within the next 24 hours.
The experienced manager was nearly appointed as Everton’s head coach in 2022 after Rafael Benitez’s departure.
Pereira’s career includes winning two Primeira Liga titles with Porto and a Greek Super League title with Olympiakos.
Wolves will face Leicester on Sunday, who are just five points ahead in the standings.
O’Neil was dismissed after Saturday’s defeat—Wolves’ fourth consecutive loss—left them second to last in the Premier League with only nine points from 16 games.
O’Neil was appointed in August 2023 after Julen Lopetegui’s departure and had signed a new four-year contract earlier this year.
