Following the destructive impact of Cyclone CHIDO on the Comoros archipelago, especially Mayotte, President Azali Assoumani has expressed his solidarity with the affected residents.
In his remarks, President Assoumani emphasized, “The most important point is that no lives were lost. Material losses can happen at any time, with or without a cyclone. Our priority now is to support those who have been affected by the damage on the islands.”
In an official statement, he offered condolences to those who lost loved ones in Mayotte and wished a swift recovery for the injured.
“I extend our heartfelt sympathy and solidarity to our Mahorais brothers during this challenging time,” he stated.
He acknowledged the resilience of the people as they faced the devastating losses caused by the cyclone, expressing confidence that the Mahorans would confront the situation with determination.
The president assured that the Union of Comoros would assist Mayotte in its reconstruction and humanitarian efforts.
He called for a collective approach to meet the urgent needs of those impacted and encouraged local organizations to participate in relief operations.
Additionally, he appealed to the international community for support during this crisis.
As damage assessments continue, the Union of Comoros stands ready to provide all necessary assistance to help Mayotte recover from this difficult period.
