Kenyans have identified the high cost of living as their primary concern, with 51% citing it as their biggest issue, according to the latest Nationwide Perception Survey conducted by InfoTrak.
Unemployment followed closely at 36%, while corruption ranked third at 24%. Over-taxation and the shift from NHIF to SHIF rounded out the top five concerns, each at 23%.
Other issues highlighted include access to quality and affordable education, the cost of doing business, extrajudicial killings, insecurity and crime, poverty reduction, youth empowerment, and the high cost of agricultural inputs like fertilizers and machinery.
Additional concerns include youth grievances, public participation, access to clean water, women’s empowerment, equitable resource distribution, drug and alcohol abuse, ethnicity and tribalism, environmental conservation, the high cost of education, and disaster management.
This survey was commissioned in collaboration with the Electoral Law and Governance Institute for Africa (ELGIA).
Carried out between November 16 and November 30, 2024, the survey sampled 2,400 respondents. It had a margin of error of ±2% at a 95% confidence level. The survey covered all 47 counties across 8 regions, with data processed and analyzed using SPSS 26 Statistical Software for its accuracy and reliability.
