Content creator Director Trevor has publicly criticized his former girlfriend, Mungai Eve, over her recent interview with Simon Kabu, the CEO of Bonfire Adventures. The interview, conducted during Bonfire Adventures’ end-of-year party, focused on the ongoing marital issues between Simon and his wife, Sarah Kabu.
Trevor expressed his dissatisfaction with the interview, calling it unprofessional, disrespectful, and embarrassing. In an interview with Ankali Ray, Trevor defended Simon Kabu, emphasizing that elders deserve respect and that the manner in which Mungai Eve interviewed Simon was inappropriate.
He stated, “Sometimes our elders need respect. Our elders know what they are doing; it’s not nice to talk to them in a way that demeans them.”
Trevor clarified that his criticism wasn’t driven by personal animosity, but rather his role as a content creator. He explained that it was important to maintain professionalism, especially since the people being interviewed serve as role models for the audience. He also stressed that even when there is a personal connection between the interviewer and interviewee, professionalism should always be upheld on camera.
Trevor further advised Mungai Eve to refine her journalistic skills, even suggesting that she return to school for further training. He compared her style to respected journalists like Lulu Hassan and emphasized the importance of prioritizing ethics and professional conduct over social media trends.
The interview itself, intended to address the marital issues between Simon and Sarah, instead ignited online criticism. Mungai Eve’s probing questions, particularly about gender-based violence (GBV) allegations and a CCTV incident involving Sarah, were met with backlash. Simon responded by clarifying that Bonfire Adventures was a joint effort between him and Sarah, and he chose not to comment on the GBV allegations due to the ongoing legal proceedings.
Reactions to the interview were mixed, with some accusing Eve of being too harsh or of projecting personal experiences onto Sarah’s situation. Trevor added his voice to the criticism, describing the interview as “unprofessional, embarrassing, and lacking objectivity.” He called for Mungai Eve to apologize to Simon and redo the interview with a more respectful approach.
