Veteran Kenyan comedian Professor Hamo recently opened up about the challenges he faced in marriage and fatherhood, acknowledging that his own selfishness led him astray.
In a candid interview, Hamo admitted that his actions almost destroyed his marriage and affected another person’s life. “I had a wife, but my greed made me lose focus. I nearly ruined someone’s child’s life. But we forgave each other. It wasn’t just one of us at fault—we both made mistakes,” he revealed.
He credited his faith for helping him navigate these difficulties, stating, “I have God now, and that’s how I’ve been able to grow and reach this point. I had to become more grounded and focused.”
Hamo’s relationship with comedienne Jemutai, which began in 2015, has faced numerous challenges. The couple shares two children, but their journey has been marked by public disagreements. At one point, Jemutai accused Hamo of neglecting his parental duties, claiming he failed to pay rent, stopped supporting their children, and showed up late at night intoxicated, bringing only trivial items for the kids while ignoring their real needs.
Despite these issues, the pair has reconciled and now share mutual respect. Hamo acknowledged that their struggles helped build this respect. “My baby mama and I wouldn’t have the respect we now have for each other if we hadn’t gone through those tough times. We’re raising the kids well, and everyone is living their own life. I support the kids, not the mother. I have a wife,” he clarified.
Hamo also reflected on how he and his wife healed their relationship after the turmoil. He emphasized the importance of forgiveness in their recovery, stressing that both partners made mistakes but worked together to rebuild their connection.
“We forgave each other,” he said, highlighting the significance of reconciliation and learning from the experience.
For Hamo, this phase of his life has been a humbling lesson about the consequences of his actions and the importance of taking responsibility and making amends.
