A well-known Westlands restaurant has confirmed that police are investigating a mysterious death that occurred on its premises earlier this month.
In a statement released on Friday, December 13, the restaurant revealed that both its security team and the police are looking into the incident. This follows the emergence of CCTV footage on Thursday, showing a man, reportedly a casual worker, dead in an elevator at the establishment.
Reports indicate that the worker was discovered lifeless on the morning of Thursday, December 5. The exact cause of death remains unclear, even eight days later.
The matter has been reported to Parklands Police Station, but there are growing concerns regarding the progress of the investigation.
In its statement, the restaurant’s management confirmed the incident and emphasized that it is being treated with the utmost seriousness. “The police and our security team are closely working together to investigate the matter, and we fully support their efforts to ensure a thorough and impartial inquiry,” part of the statement read.
The restaurant also urged the public to avoid spreading false information and speculation. “We kindly ask everyone to respect the deceased and their family by refraining from sharing images or information related to the incident. Such actions are deeply insensitive and only add to the pain of those affected,” they said, adding, “It is crucial that we allow the authorities to conduct their investigation without interference or unfounded rumors.”
Police have not yet provided any updates on the investigation’s progress.
