Nairobi Regional Police Commander Adamson Bungei has guaranteed enhanced security measures during the Jamhuri Day celebrations scheduled for Thursday, December 12. Speaking in Nairobi on Wednesday, Bungei reassured Kenyans that police will ensure their safety throughout the event, which will take place at Uhuru Gardens.
Bungei emphasized that all Kenyans are welcome to attend, noting that venue gates will open at 6 a.m. to allow participants to stream in early. He confirmed that preparations are complete and attendees will be well-protected.
Highlighting Nairobi’s importance as the economic hub contributing over 60% of Kenya’s GDP, Bungei stated that security efforts will be thorough. “We have put all measures in place and followed a detailed roadmap to ensure safety during the celebrations and the festive period,” he affirmed.
Kenyans traveling from rural areas to join the celebrations have also been assured of secure travels. Additionally, the police chief pledged heightened security measures across the country during the festive season to safeguard travelers.
This year’s Jamhuri Day, themed “Jobs, Labour, Migration, Entertainment, and Entrepreneurship,” will focus on creating employment opportunities. In line with this, the government organized the Jamhuri National Job Fair on Wednesday. The event brought together government ministries, private sector organizations, international recruitment agencies, educational institutions, and job seekers to foster connections and expand employment opportunities.
The celebrations aim to promote innovative solutions for unemployment and connect Kenyans to various job prospects, making this year’s Jamhuri Day not only a commemoration of independence but also a platform for economic empowerment.
