Kenyan pastor T Mwangi has opened up about his challenging experiences, including an embarrassing moment at a strip club and life-altering encounters that reinforced his faith.
In an undated video, Pastor T recounted how, during a low point in his life following a heartbreak, he attempted to backslide by visiting a strip club. He recalled:
“One day, I decided to backslide, so I went to a strip club. At the entrance, the receptionist said, ‘I think I know you.’ I told her I just had a familiar face. She asked where I wanted to go, and I said the VIP Lounge.”
However, his attempt to remain inconspicuous failed.
“I paid and went in. A stripper recognized me and said, ‘I know you! You’re Pastor T from Angaza—you’ve blessed me so much!’ At the time, I was heartbroken and suicidal, and nothing in my life made sense. I just asked for a cold Sprite.”
Feeling exposed, he decided to leave the club and try a local bar, but the situation repeated itself.
“I hadn’t slept for four days, so I wanted to drink and black out. When the waiter approached me, she immediately asked, ‘Ah, Pastor T, what will you drink?’ I ended up going home and prayed, asking God never to let me be heartbroken and embarrassed like that again.”
Pastor T also shared past incidents that reaffirmed his faith. He revealed that he narrowly escaped contracting HIV/AIDS after intimate relationships with two women who later succumbed to the virus.
During a reckless period, he described how his life was spared in dangerous circumstances.
“I went to a club, and a fight broke out. Someone threw a bottle, and it narrowly missed my head, hitting the wall. The entire place went quiet—it’s only God who can explain how that bottle missed me.”
Later, during a Christmas holiday, he was intimate with a woman who later passed away from HIV/AIDS.
“I was drunk and ended up sleeping with a lady. Not long after, we buried her because she had HIV.”
In another relationship, he dated a woman who had contracted the virus from her sugar daddy.
“I started seeing another woman, and the same thing happened. I later found out her sugar daddy was sick. Eventually, we buried him.”
The turning point came on Valentine’s Day the following year, during a challenge among his friends to impress a specific woman.
“I won the game, and that’s when I decided to get tested. I went to a VCT, and by God’s grace, my results came back negative. I don’t know how the Lord preserved me, but He did.”
Reflecting on these experiences, Pastor T attributes his survival and transformation to divine intervention and continues to use his story to inspire others.
