North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has signed a decree ratifying the comprehensive strategic partnership treaty between Pyongyang and Moscow, as reported by the Voice of Korea.
The decree was signed on Monday in Pyongyang, and the treaty will take effect once the two nations exchange ratification documents. It is a permanent agreement with no expiration date, the news agency stated.
In June, Russia and North Korea signed the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Under Article 4 of the agreement, if either country faces armed aggression from another state or group of states and is involved in a conflict, the other party is obligated to provide military and other forms of assistance using all available means, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter and the laws of both Russia and North Korea.
