Suspects in Shiners Boys High School murder case to take KCSE exams while in custody.

Education Principal Secretary (PS) Belio Kipsang has stated that the four suspects involved in the Shiners Boys High School murder will sit for their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams while in custody. Speaking in Nakuru, where he oversaw the opening of an examination container, PS Kipsang explained that a multiagency team is investigating the incident. The suspects will be permitted to take their exams as they await legal proceedings.

“We want security teams to continue from where they’ve reached. The candidates will take the exams from wherever they are, and once completed, the legal process will proceed. I leave it to the security and criminal justice system to handle, and I’m confident they will be brought to court,” he remarked. The four suspects are believed to be connected to the stabbing death of a fellow student on Saturday night.

Earlier, Gilgil sub-county police commander Winstone Mwakio confirmed the suspects had been suspended but returned to school for the exams, only to find their belongings vandalized, suspecting the victim might have been responsible. The police commander raised concerns about how the weapon was smuggled into the school, citing issues with student discipline.

Dak, a Sudanese national identified as the prime suspect, reportedly fled to Nairobi overnight following the incident and was apprehended on Sunday. Police indicate that Dak’s co-accused, also detained, are expected to serve as witnesses, with the case now transferred to the DCI for further investigation.
