Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has issued a stern warning to state officials who misuse public resources for personal gain.
He emphasized that the Kenya Kwanza administration will ensure the law is enforced to the fullest if anyone is found guilty of such misconduct.
Kindiki strongly condemned the misappropriation of public funds, which are intended for building infrastructure to benefit the poor. He described it as a curse, highlighting the pain of impoverished citizens who suffer and die due to lack of basic healthcare and preventable issues.
“It is a curse to use public funds for personal gain. The cry of the poor, who cannot access medicine and lose their lives to preventable causes, reaches God,” Kindiki said. “As we await God’s judgment, we also have the constitution and the law to guide us. We will do whatever it takes to protect public resources. To those who think they can steal from the people, your days are numbered.”
The Deputy President reiterated his full support for President William Ruto’s efforts to safeguard public resources, stating that they must be used solely for the benefit of the people.
“Public resources should only be used to build hospitals, schools, roads, and other amenities that improve the lives of Kenyans. By doing so, God will bless our nation,” Kindiki added.
He made the remarks during a Sunday Worship and Thanksgiving Service at Jesus Palace of Praise Church in Mwatate, Taita Taveta County. During his visit, Kindiki also noted that the country’s economic situation has improved since they took office.
He was joined by several Members of Parliament, including Lydia Haika (Taita Taveta Woman Representative), Peter Shake (Mwatate), John Bwire (Taveta), Danson Mwashako (Wundanyi), Carolyne Ng’elechei (Elgeyo Marakwet Woman Representative), John Kiarie ‘KJ’ (Dagoretti South), Nimrod Mbai (Kitui East), and Geoffrey Ruku (Mbeere North), along with various MCAs and local leaders.
