Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Julius Migos has assured that cheating cases in the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations will not lead to punitive actions against entire institutions where the malpractice is detected. Speaking on Monday during the supervision of examination papers at the Lang’ata Sub-County Headquarters, Migos emphasized that each case will be addressed individually, focusing on the individuals involved. He noted that it would be unjust to penalize an entire institution for the actions of a single person.
“Where interference is detected, as seen in Homa Bay, we will ensure that those responsible face the consequences,” he stated.
This remark referred to the case of ten teachers from Pala Masogo Secondary School in Homa Bay, who were charged with examination malpractice on November 6. Each teacher was slapped with a Ksh. 2 million bond and a similar surety after being caught photocopying the 2024 KCSE Chemistry paper.
CS Migos also mentioned that a group of individuals scamming parents on social media has been arrested and will soon face legal action. He urged all security personnel deployed at various examination centers to remain vigilant and plug any potential loopholes that could facilitate cheating.
