Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is urging Kenyans to vote President William Ruto out of office in 2027, citing the government’s failure to fulfill its promises. As a co-principal of the opposition coalition Azimio, he pointed to the recent elections in Botswana as an example of how citizens can confront poor governance.
“Duma Boko has defeated (incumbent President Mokgweetsi) Masisi… so don’t say that the elections will be rigged in 2027,” he remarked. Yatta MP Robert Basil added, “Kenyans deserve better services, and if former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was impeached, then President Ruto should be held to the same standard.”
Kalonzo also addressed alarming reports of violent murders and mysterious disappearances, particularly of women, which have instilled fear in the populace and raised concerns about the effectiveness of the country’s security forces.
“It is unacceptable that we are part of the United Nations Human Rights Council while Kenyans are going missing,” stated the former Vice President. Meanwhile, Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti expressed her frustration over the financial challenges facing counties, attributing the situation to delayed fund disbursements from the exchequer. She stated, “We are relying on our own revenue sources… just to cover the basics.”
