Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has always maintained a private life for his family, keeping them out of the public eye. However, at his swearing-in ceremony held at KICC on Friday, November 1, Kenyans got their first glimpse of his wife, Dr. Joyce Kindiki, as she stepped into the spotlight.
Dr. Joyce made an elegant appearance, dressed in a stunning cream-colored skirt suit paired with matching heels. She stood by her husband’s side throughout the ceremony, holding the Constitution with grace and dignity. The couple walked hand-in-hand, a powerful symbol of unity and support.
In his speech, after taking the oath, Kindiki expressed deep gratitude to his wife, acknowledging her sacrifices and unwavering support in his service to the nation. “I want to thank my wonderful wife, Joyce—a woman who sacrificed her own career to raise our three children, Imani, Emma, and Mwende,” he said. “Many days and nights of my absence in service to this nation were made possible by her support.” The couple has been married since 2001.
Dr. Joyce Kindiki’s professional background is impressive. According to her LinkedIn profile, she holds a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’s, and a Ph.D. in Environmental Chemistry and has served as a lecturer at the University of Nairobi since 2014.
As the new Second Lady, Dr. Joyce Kindiki is expected to support her husband in his role and may initiate her own projects, building on the legacy of Dorcas Gachagua, who championed causes like advocating for the boy child and drug rehabilitation. Kenyans are keenly watching to see what new initiatives Dr. Joyce will bring to her role as Second Lady.
