The family of Willis Ayieko, the Wells Fargo HR manager who was murdered, has praised the National Police Service (NPS) for their decisive actions against those involved in his death. During funeral arrangements on November 2, Ayieko’s brother expressed gratitude to Siaya Governor James Orengo and MP Samuel Atandi for their relentless pursuit of justice.
Ayieko’s brother highlighted their commitment, noting that both leaders visited the mortuary and pressed for answers regarding his brother’s murder. He also raised concerns about the motives behind Ayieko’s death, suggesting it may be linked to a suspected criminal syndicate led by a high-profile individual.
Family members described Ayieko as a kind and diplomatic person. One relative questioned the brutal manner of his death, saying, “Why do you want to maim somebody in such a manner?”
Willis Ayieko was reported missing after attending a vigil on October 18, and his body was found on October 23 near the Siaya-Kakamega border. Following the discovery, police launched a manhunt, arresting the first suspect on October 29 in Nairobi. Additional suspects were apprehended during a chaotic operation in Siaya, which led to gunfire, resulting in one suspect’s death and another escaping with injuries. Another suspect was shot and killed by police on October 31.
