Stand-up comedian Oliver Otieno, popularly known as YY, and his new girlfriend, Noella, have become the center of attention since YY introduced her shortly after his breakup with ex-girlfriend Marya Okoth. This new relationship has sparked a variety of reactions, particularly after YY explained his seemingly quick move forward.
Marya publicly announced their split in September, and within a month, YY revealed his relationship with Noella, fueling ongoing discussions. In a recent interview with Milele FM’s Ankali Ray, YY shared his thoughts on the timing and pace of his new relationship.
Noella also opened up about experiencing targeted online backlash, noting that the bullying had become intense. In a video posted on the Kenya Gossip Instagram page, she described the situation as “unfortunate,” adding, “I didn’t know I could handle the negativity this well. I’m just at peace.”
Reaffirming her resilience, she remarked, “Interestingly, none of this is causing me stress. I mean, most of it…I didn’t expect to handle it this well.” She further added, “It hasn’t affected me at all, so believe it or not, I’m completely at peace.”
YY and Noella recently visited her parents’ rural home, where he sought their blessings. Many Kenyans have reacted to the fast pace of their relationship, with some feeling it was rushed, while others sympathized with YY’s desire to find stability.
Expressing gratitude, YY wrote, “God, thank you for the honor of meeting her parents… I can’t do it without you. Help me give my all.”
Noella was also by YY’s side at his grandfather’s funeral on October 20, and the couple made a public appearance together at Eric Omondi’s comedy show shortly after. Fans have shared a range of responses to YY’s posts featuring Noella:
- iam__s.h.a.n: “I don’t understand…why is everyone happy he’s moved on…is this a skit?”
- joan_tado: “Am I the only one thinking this was too fast???”
