Mumias East MP Peter Salasya is celebrating his financial progress and reflecting on his humble beginnings. At 35, he recalls being so financially strained that he would haggle for reduced bus fare just to make trips from his village to Nairobi.
As a first-time MP, he now occasionally flies—something that once felt impossible. “I never imagined I’d board a plane as casually as I would a matatu,” he remarked.
Reflecting on his pre-2022 election struggles, he shared that his go-to transport options were Basi la Matunda and Eldoret Express. Even then, he would negotiate the Sh. 800 fare down to Sh. 650 so he could save a bit for mukombero at the Majengo stop.
Salasya expressed gratitude for his journey, emphasizing, “God is faithful when you put in hard work.”
Known for his resilience, Salasya began as a bicycle hawker and was introduced to politics by Eugene Wamalwa, a veteran politician who helped shape his career.
In a past message, drawing from his journey, Salasya urged his followers: “Never lose hope. Work hard, even when faced with rejection or failure. Don’t expect miracles from a place of comfort—God rewards hard work and those who persevere and pray for success.”
