African heads of state head to Beijing for China-Africa cooperation summit

The 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit is taking place in Beijing from September 4 to 6. This summit is a significant event for enhancing relations between China and African nations, bringing together leaders from across Africa to discuss various areas of cooperation.

The theme for this year’s summit is “Joining Hands to Advance Modernization and Build a High-Level China-Africa Community with a Shared Future.” The event will include high-level meetings, a China-Africa entrepreneurs’ conference, and various bilateral talks. The aim is to further deepen Sino-African relations by focusing on shared development goals, especially in areas like infrastructure, education, healthcare, and technology.

Notably, Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan has been given the honor of officiating the summit, reflecting her prominent role in representing East Africa.
