The vulnerable Kidum reveals the reasons behind his numerous turbulent relationships.

Burundian Kenyan singer Kidum has gained significant insights from his life experiences, including the fact that he only tried alcohol for the first time at 40. In an interview with Dr. Ofweneke on “Lessons @30,” Kidum revealed that he first tasted alcohol in 2014. He had previously avoided it due to witnessing its destructive effects on families and his own father’s battles with alcoholism, which led to frequent hospitalizations and accidents.

Kidum’s initial fear of alcohol was rooted in his father’s struggles, which made him deeply dislike the substance. However, when he finally chose to drink, he felt confident in his ability to control it and now consumes it casually for enjoyment.

Having gone through two failed marriages, Kidum is now married for the third time and has seven biological children. Reflecting on his past relationships, he humorously described his first child, born while he was still in school, as being like Schwarzenegger in his strength. He also mentioned his previous relationships, including a Congolese woman, another partner, and a Burundian with whom he experienced dramatic ups and downs.

Kidum attributes his difficult relationships to the absence of a father figure and shared that he has no regrets about his past marriages. He has also adopted an eighth child. He advised others to be honest about their feelings and commitments, stressing the importance of genuine love in relationships.
