Maverick Aoko has been released on a cash bail of Sh100,000.

Maverick Aoko Otieno has been charged in a Milimani Court with posting false information on her ‘X’ social media account. She also faces two additional charges of cyber harassment and misuse of electronic data.

The allegations claim that on August 3, she shared false, defamatory, and threatening content about individuals named ‘Amber Ray’ and ‘Jamal’. This was reportedly done with the intention of causing fear, panic, and damaging the reputation, career, and livelihood of one Beth Wambui Mbuitu.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi, Aoko was granted bail of Sh100,000. The magistrate ruled that her phones and laptops, seized during her arrest, remain as evidence and cannot be returned at this time. However, they may be considered for release once forensic investigations are complete. The request will be reviewed before the trial court. The case is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on September 2.
