Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor John Barorot has dismissed widespread reports suggesting he has resigned from his position.
Barorot was notably absent from President William Ruto’s event on Thursday, where Eldoret was officially granted city status, fueling speculation about his whereabouts.
While the Deputy Governor labeled the resignation claims as mere rumors, he did not provide an explanation for his absence from the significant event.
Barorot also declined to address questions regarding his absence from several county events this year, which were attended by Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii.
Despite multiple attempts to reach him, Barorot only responded to one SMS from the Star, simply stating, “Rumours,” in response to the resignation speculations.
There has been ongoing speculation about his working relationship with Governor Bii. However, two weeks ago, during a prayer meeting at the county headquarters, Governor Bii clarified that Barorot was on leave.
“Apologies for not mentioning earlier, but our Deputy Governor, Engineer Barorot, is on leave, although we remain united in our efforts,” said Governor Bii.
Engineer Barorot has been notably absent from most of the preparations for Eldoret’s city status elevation, except for one event where he commended the media’s role in promoting and branding the new city.
Barorot is known for his reserved nature, preferring a simple lifestyle, and is often seen driving himself around town.
