A 75-year-old man has died following an alleged assault in Bungoma.

A 75-year-old man died following an alleged assault by his neighbor with a walking stick during a confrontation in Kopsiro, Bungoma County. According to police, Hudson Cheboit was struck on the head with the stick on Wednesday, August 13.

He was rushed to Bungoma County Referral Hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. The suspect has been arrested and is awaiting arraignment, while the victim’s body is at a local mortuary. The altercation reportedly stemmed from a disagreement over land.

In Kimilili, Isaac Wanyonyi, a casual laborer, was allegedly attacked by a hotel employee after a dispute, resulting in injuries that led to his death. The incident occurred at a hotel in Kimilili Township. Wanyonyi was taken to Kimilili Subcounty Hospital, where he died while receiving treatment.

Police discovered burn injuries on his back, and the body has been transferred to the hospital for a postmortem examination. The suspect has not yet been apprehended, and the case is under investigation.

In Hola, Tana River County, a man was shot and wounded during a chaotic confrontation between two groups at a peace meeting. The meeting, held in Zubaki Location, deteriorated into violence when disagreements arose over the agenda. In response, two Kenya Police Reservists fired into the air with Mark 4 rifles, inadvertently shooting one participant in both legs.

The injured man was admitted to Ijara Subcounty Hospital in serious condition. Police have visited the scene, recovered three spent cartridges, and disarmed the reservists. An investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to address the underlying dispute that led to the shooting.
