Kasmuel McOure recently opened up about the challenge of balancing his activism with his romantic relationship. The musician-turned-activist, known for his passionate anti-government protests, spoke with Stephanie Ng’ang’a about how his growing fame has affected his love life.
During their conversation, Kasmuel acknowledged that transitioning from musician to activist has made it harder to spend time with his girlfriend. “Things have definitely changed,” he explained. “My schedule is much busier, and we can’t hang out as often as before. But we’re both committed to making it work. Relationships require effort from both partners.”
He recognized the pressures that come with fame and its potential impact on his relationship, emphasizing his determination to stay grounded despite the changes. Kasmuel expressed gratitude for his girlfriend’s support, stating, “She’s been my rock through all of this, and I’m not going to jeopardize that just because things are shifting. What we have is too precious to sacrifice for temporary gains.”
Often referred to as the ‘Tom Mboya of our time’ by Gen Z, Kasmuel has been vocal about his political ambitions. In an August interview with Kenyans.co.ke, he stated his readiness to enter the political arena. “It’s time for good people to step up; I plan to run for an elective position—whether in Nairobi or elsewhere in Kenya, we’ll sort that out later. While the political class is caught up in their campaigns, we’re focused on advocating for real change. This decision isn’t new for me.”
On August 1, he elaborated that this has been a long-standing ambition. “I’ve been saying this since 2002, the year I came of age. I’m tired of electing unqualified individuals. It’s time for genuinely good people to step up and provide us with better options. We always end up choosing between two candidates, which feels like selecting the lesser evil.”
Kasmuel intends to run in the 2027 elections, clarifying that he will not be affiliated with any political party.
