President William Ruto and his Deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, shared a light moment in South Mugirango Constituency, Kisii County, when a local resident presented them with bananas and tea.
Photos shared by the Presidential Communication Service show Ruto and Gachagua enjoying the moment as they peel bananas while chatting with the resident, Yunuke Nyanchongi.
“Earlier, we connected power to the home of 85-year-old Yunuke Nyanchongi in Riasuta Itibonge Village, South Mugirango, Kisii County,” Ruto stated.
During the development tour, Ruto was also gifted a chicken. The visit was part of the launch of the last mile rural electrification project in the Raisuta-Etibonge Etago area.
Ruto emphasized the importance of rural electrification across the country, highlighting its role in driving the growth of rural economies.
Gachagua added that the government is committed to improving access to electricity and increasing household incomes.
They were joined by Governor Simba Arati and South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro.
