On Friday, a man was arrested in Wajir for allegedly breaking into a telecommunications company and siphoning diesel.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported that the man was apprehended while his accomplices managed to escape. The arrest followed intelligence about a break-in in the Halane area. Officers responded promptly and caught the suspect in the act of siphoning diesel.
The DCI noted that the accomplices fled into the darkness, leaving their associate to face the consequences. The operation led to the recovery of three full 20-litre jerrycans and one half-full 20-litre jerrycan of diesel, as well as 14 empty 20-litre jerrycans and a siphoning pipe.
The suspect is currently being held at Wajir Police Station for processing, while the search for his accomplices continues.
