Detectives are investigating the shooting death of a man by unknown gunmen in the Kist area of Kiambu Township. Witnesses reported that the incident occurred on Thursday, August 1, along Kist-Degro Road.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear. Police found the body of an unidentified man, estimated to be around 27 years old, beside a motorcycle. The man had a gunshot wound to the chest. Near the body, two spent 9mm cartridges and one live bullet were recovered, approximately 100 meters away. Guards in the area claimed that the victim was followed by two other motorcycle riders who fled the scene after the shooting. The body has been taken to the City Mortuary for postmortem and identification. Authorities have labeled the killing as an execution.
In another case, police are investigating the death of a man found in the City Stadium area of Nairobi. The victim, who had no identification documents, showed no visible injuries or signs of a struggle at the scene. The body has been transported to the mortuary for identification and autopsy.
Additionally, a police officer is recovering from a head wound after being stoned by a man attempting to exhume a body in Kiborgok village, Kaimosi area, Nandi County. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when the officers intervened to prevent the exhumation of Darling Rukabite’s body. The suspect threw stones at the officers, injuring one. Enraged locals attacked the suspect with stones and twigs until police intervened. Both the suspect and the injured officer were treated at Kapkangani Health Centre and discharged in stable condition. The suspect is expected to appear in court on Friday. The exhumation was linked to a land dispute, prompting calls for local officials to mediate and resolve the issue amicably.
