Manchester United’s recent recruit Yoro will be sidelined for three months, while Hojlund is expected to be out for six weeks.

Manchester United’s new £52 million defender Leny Yoro has been ruled out for three months, while striker Rasmus Hojlund will be sidelined for six weeks due to injuries sustained during Saturday’s pre-season match against Arsenal.

The news was confirmed just over an hour before United’s 3-2 win over La Liga team Real Betis in San Diego.

Both players were forced to leave the field in the first half of the 2-1 loss at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

Yoro was seen at United’s training facility at UCLA on Tuesday, wearing a protective boot and using crutches, raising concerns about a serious injury. Those fears have been confirmed, as the 18-year-old defender will be out until the end of October.

This means he will miss nine Premier League matches, including games against Liverpool, Tottenham, and Aston Villa, as well as the start of United’s Europa League and Carabao Cup campaigns.

Yoro will undergo further tests upon returning to the UK to assess the full extent of his injury, but he will remain with the United squad for the rest of their US tour, which wraps up against Liverpool in Columbia, South Carolina, on Saturday.

Hojlund, who scored the opening goal for United over the weekend, suffered a hamstring injury and will be unavailable until after the September international break, missing the match against Liverpool at Old Trafford on September 1.

It remains to be seen whether this situation will renew Manchester United’s interest in signing Jarred Branthwaite from Everton or Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich, following previous attempts to acquire both players this summer.
