A standoff occurred at the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party headquarters when supporters of Secretary-General Cleophas Malala gathered at the office. On Wednesday, a large crowd assembled, chanting pro-Malala slogans and asserting that he remained a key part of the UDA leadership.
Police were present to prevent the supporters from entering the premises. This confrontation follows Joe Khalende’s declaration that he has replaced Malala as SG, alleging that Malala was undermining the party’s objectives and opposing the broad-based government formed by President William Ruto. Khalende also criticized Malala for neglecting his duties, justifying the need for his removal.
