Baba Jimmy, the Mzungu preacher from Kakamega known for his fluent Swahili and Luhya accent on TikTok, has shared why his biracial children do not possess U.S. citizenship, even though he is an American citizen and Kenya allows dual citizenship.
Isaiah, who is also known as Baba Jimmy, recently returned to a 36-acre ranch in Kentucky with his wife, Judy (referred to as Mama Jimmy), and their two teenage children, a son and a daughter.
In response to fan inquiries about their new life in the U.S. and whether they had adjusted after their quick exit from Kenya due to visa complications, Isaiah discussed their circumstances.
He stated that his family is currently ineligible to apply for U.S. citizenship.
He explained, “There is a law in the U.S. that mandates individuals must have lived there for more than two years after turning 14 to qualify for citizenship.”
Isaiah noted that he came to Kenya as a missionary and lived there for many years, establishing a life and family. Consequently, he currently holds a green card for his U.S. residency.
He further mentioned that once he has lived in the U.S. for two years without issues, he will be able to apply for citizenship for his family.
“I arrived in Kenya at the age of 12 and had never lived in the U.S. for more than two years since I was 14. Therefore, my kids can’t become citizens right away.
“We have applied for visas, and they will obtain green cards. After we have resided here for about three years, I can apply for citizenship for them and Mama Jimmy,” the preacher from Kingdom Driven Ministry and Wajumbe Training Bible School explained.
