Actor and comedian Kazungu Matano, popularly known as Captain Otoyo, has disclosed that his absence from the entertainment industry is due to his decision to take a break and enjoy the wealth he accumulated throughout his career.
After the Churchill Show ended in 2020 and his departure from radio, Matano has been living a low-profile life away from the public eye.
Captain Otoyo, who rose to fame on the popular TV show Papa Shirandula before moving on to stand-up comedy on Churchill Show and later a radio career, stated that he needed time to reflect on his achievements, savor his earnings, and explore other undisclosed ventures.
“I realized I had made a significant amount of money and needed to enjoy it; otherwise, I might leave it behind for others to fight over without understanding the effort I put in,” Captain Otoyo chuckled.
Although he still feels a creative urge, Otoyo believes it’s time to start a new chapter in his life.
“I would love to venture into other things, especially now that I have a fair amount of life experience. I think it would be a nice challenge for myself,” he added.
