President William Ruto will address the nation today at 4 pm from State House, Nairobi.
This address follows a week after Ruto implemented significant changes in his administration, resulting in the dismissal of all cabinet secretaries. The address also comes amid rising expectations among Kenyans for further changes in response to concerns raised by Gen Zs.
The ministerial positions of the 21 cabinet secretaries are now vacant after Ruto officially announced their dismissal in a Gazette Notice dated July 12. In the notice, the head of state stated that the review and reorganization of his administration were necessary to implement operational enhancements and foster responsive governance.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that Ruto may announce the new cabinet secretaries during today’s address.
Last Sunday, while attending a church service in Nyandarua, the president requested prayers as he undertakes the task of assembling a new team to deliver on the Kenyan dream. Despite the uncertain future of some former cabinet secretaries, sources indicate that a few might be reinstated.
“I have opened a new chapter; pray for me to get the people who will help in the transformation agenda,” Ruto told the worshippers. “Pray for me to get the right workers who will help us realize my promises to you.”
Ruto emphasized that he is seeking competent individuals to support the realization of his Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
