More than 438 students graduated from AMREF International University.

Amref International University (AMIU) celebrated its 5th graduation ceremony on Friday, July 19, at its campus located at Northlands Farm on Thika Road.

The event, themed “Embracing Diversity and Disruptive Technologies for Sustainable Pan-African Workforce Training,” saw a total of 438 graduates awarded their certificates of merit. The graduating cohort included 31 certificate students, 107 diploma students, 104 higher diploma students, 12 advanced diploma students, 150 undergraduate students, and 28 postgraduate students.

The Vice Chancellor praised the graduates, stating, “Our graduands not only possess the knowledge and skills needed for the job market but also embody the values essential for making the world a better place. They truly represent the Amref spirit of Ubuntu.”

Ministry of Health Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni commended AMIU for its significant contributions to training professional health workers. She highlighted the importance of preparing diverse and competitive professionals who can address health challenges across different communities and borders. “Disease outbreaks can originate from anywhere, and health workers must now think beyond their local communities in preventing disease spread. Given the quality that Amref represents, we are confident that the graduates here today are well-equipped to make a global impact,” Muthoni remarked.

She also congratulated the graduating class and announced that the government has established a task force to address challenges faced by health workers and facilitate their employment.

Founded in 2017, AMIU is a Pan-African health sciences university owned by Amref Health Africa. It offers a range of postgraduate, undergraduate, higher diploma, diploma, and certificate programs aimed at preparing skilled professionals to serve across the health system.
