The Kenya Meteorological Department has forecasted intermittent cold and cloudy weather for the Central Highlands and Western Kenya. From July 18 to July 22, 2024, morning rain is expected in several areas, including the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and parts of the Rift Valley (Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot Counties). Afternoons will bring showers and thunderstorms in a few places, with showers continuing in some areas at night.
North-western regions (Turkana and Samburu Counties) will experience rain across several places, with showers and thunderstorms expected on Friday. Sunny intervals are forecasted with possible showers on Friday, while Saturday may see morning rain and afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Sunday and Monday are expected to have rain and scattered showers and thunderstorms in various places.
In the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi County (Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi Counties), mornings will be cloudy. Afternoons will bring showers in some high-ground areas, with partially cloudy nights expected on Friday and Saturday, and a chance of showers over high-ground areas on Sunday and Monday nights.
Northeastern parts (Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo Counties) will experience sunny intervals during mornings and afternoons, with partly cloudy nights.
In the South-eastern lowlands (Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta Counties), Friday and Saturday mornings will start cloudy but break into sunny intervals. Sunny intervals are expected throughout Sunday and Monday, with partly cloudy nights.
On the Coast (Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale Counties), mornings and afternoons will have sunny intervals, while nights will be partly cloudy.
