A woman, believed to be the mother-in-law of a suspected serial killer, stated that her daughter went silent in 2022.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) revealed the suspected killer on Monday. They reported that he allegedly confessed to first killing his wife before murdering 41 other women.
“The suspect claimed that his first victim was his wife, whom he strangled to death before dismembering and disposing of her body at the Kware site,” said Amin.
The woman mentioned that her daughter, who was reportedly married to the suspect, used to communicate with others via WhatsApp until 2022.
“By 2022, her account went silent,” she said.
Speaking to the media, the mother said she hadn’t heard from her daughter since then.
“I’ve received a report today that she was killed,” she added.
At a press briefing at DCI headquarters, Amin stated that the suspect led officers to his single room in Kware, located 100 meters from the quarry.
“This is where he revealed what he had been doing to the victims,” Amin said.
His pursuit and subsequent arrest resulted from a thorough forensic analysis of a mobile phone belonging to one of the victims, which showed mobile money transactions on the day she went missing.
According to Amin, several items were recovered in the suspect’s possession, including 24 SIM cards, eight smartphones, two feature phones, one laptop, and one hard drive.
Additionally, two flash drives, a memory card, a machete believed to have been used to dismember the victims, and 12 nylon sacks similar to those used to stuff the bodies were recovered.
Other items included a pair of industrial rubber gloves, six ID cards for men and two for women, one pink female handbag, two pink female panties, five rolls of cannabis sativa, and four clear sellotapes.
Amin revealed that after interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to killing 42 women and disposing of their bodies at the dumpsite over two years.
