Kenyan athletes Muindi and Jerubet have been banned for doping violations.

On Tuesday, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced bans for two Kenyan marathoners due to anti-doping rule violations.

Daniel Muindi has been suspended for three years, starting from July 10, after testing positive for the prohibited substance Norandrosterone. His case originated in May 2024 when he provided a urine sample at the Lima Marathon in Peru. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) laboratory in Rio de Janeiro reported the presence of Norandrosterone on June 27, 2024.

Following this, Muindi signed an Admission of Anti-Doping Rule Violations and Acceptance of Consequences Form on July 12, 2024. Consequently, all results from his May 19 performance have been annulled, including any titles, awards, medals, points, prizes, and appearance fees.

Judith Jerubet has been banned for two years after testing positive for Triamcinolone acetonide, a substance also prohibited by the AIU. Jerubet’s urine sample, collected on March 24 before the Bank of China Wuhan Marathon in Wuhan, China, was analyzed by the WADA-accredited laboratory in Beijing.

The lab reported the presence of Triamcinolone acetonide on April 18, 2024. Despite multiple requests for her to address the Notice of Charge, Jerubet did not respond. The AIU determined that there was no evidence of intentional doping, leading to a two-year ineligibility period.
