Former Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana now says that Generation Z “stings like bees.”
In a statement following President William Ruto’s dismissal of his entire Cabinet, Kibwana praised the youth, describing them as “worthy heirs” of the late freedom fighter Dedan Kimathi. He expressed hope that these young people would usher in a new era for Kenya, where the people and the Constitution hold true power.
Kibwana stated that the country is on the brink of a third economic liberation.
“A new Kenya, nothing less! A land where the citizens and the Constitution are sovereign under God. Gen Z, you sting like bees. You are the worthy heirs of Dedan Kimathi, whom you will bury with dignity.
“Thank you. We can smell the Third (Economic) Liberation and Ubuntu,” he said.
Following weeks of demonstrations against the “punitive” Finance Bill of 2024, President William Ruto rejected the bill and recommended the deletion of all its clauses.
In addition to these measures, he announced austerity measures last week, and on Thursday, Ruto dissolved his entire Cabinet except for Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
Kenyan youth have been vocal in calling for an end to the wastage of public resources and corruption.
After dismissing the Cabinet, the President stated that the affairs of the Ministries would be coordinated by Principal Secretaries until a new cabinet is appointed.
“I have decided to dismiss with immediate effect all cabinet secretaries and the attorney general of the Cabinet of Kenya, except the Prime Cabinet Secretary and the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs,” Ruto announced.
“And, of course, the office of the Deputy President is not affected in any way.”
The President indicated that the new cabinet would be named after extensive consultations across all sectors.
