The Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) church has rescinded the suspension of four religious leaders previously banned from ministering in their pulpits.
In a letter dated July 10, 2024, Pastor Eliab Ombuoro, the Executive Secretary of KCF, officially revoked the earlier suspension directive and instructed all recipients to disregard it.
The decision to withdraw the suspension followed significant online backlash over the initial suspensions.
“We hereby withdraw our letter dated July 4, 2024, regarding the suspension of Pastor Elizabeth Mokoro, Kenneth Maina, Evangelist Shaban Ndege, Evangelist Millicent Odhiambo, and Evangelist Lantena (ACTION 24EXCOM-055). We request that anyone who received the letter ignore its contents until further notice,” the letter stated.
Previously, a notice issued by the SDA Kenya Coast field on July 4 had instructed church members not to allow the five individuals to minister in their branches.
“It is our expectation that this directive will be adhered to,” Ombuoro had emphasized, without specifying the reasons for the suspensions.
However, it has since been confirmed that the suspension letter has been retracted. Attempts to reach Pastor Ombuoro for further comment were unsuccessful as he did not respond to inquiries.
