Ruto Wins as Court Declines to Suspend Housing Levy.

The High Court has decided against issuing orders to halt the implementation of the affordable housing levy, currently set at 1.5% of gross salary as mandated by the Act.

Justices Olga Sewe, John Chigiti, and Josephine Mong’are weighed the state’s arguments, which highlighted the challenges of reversing the levy’s effects due to signed contracts and ongoing infrastructure projects.

“In recognizing the significant public interest in the affordable housing levy, we find that the balance tips in favor of prioritizing the petitions for full hearing and resolution,” they affirmed.

More details to come.
