Police in Kisumu East Sub County are investigating a tragic incident in Manyatta along the Kisumu-Nairobi highway, where a woman and her three children were found burnt inside their home. The suspected arsonist allegedly locked the door from outside and set fire to the Mabati structure using petrol around 2 am.
In addition to the devastating loss of life, ten other nearby houses were also engulfed in flames, resulting in the loss of all belongings despite efforts by the Kisumu fire department to contain the fire. Distraught neighbors recounted witnessing the incident, speculating that a love triangle may have been the motive.
The victims, including the mother who worked as a vegetable vendor at Nyamasaria market, were tragically burnt beyond recognition. This horrific event follows a previous attempt last year by the suspected arsonist to harm the woman.
James Odondo, the chief of Manyatta A location, confirmed the incident, noting that the bodies of the victims have been taken to JOOTRH morgue for further investigation.
