President William Ruto has joined the nation in mourning the founder of the Jubilee Christian Church, Bishop Allan Kiuna.
In a message of condolence on Wednesday, Ruto described Kiuna as a “dedicated Christian leader” who inspired many to follow the teachings of the Lord.
“To his wife, Rev. Kathy Kiuna, and family, we stand with you in this time of grief and mourning, and pray that you find the courage to persevere through this trying period,” Ruto said. “May he rest in peace.”
Bishop Kiuna passed away on Tuesday at a hospital in Nairobi where he had been admitted, according to a family spokesman. He had been rushed there after his condition deteriorated.
Friends and family gathered at his Runda home after receiving the news of his passing. Kiuna was diagnosed with multiple myeloma cancer in 2018/2019.
Multiple myeloma occurs when abnormal plasma cells build up in the bone marrow and form tumors in many bones of the body.
