Spain coach Luis de la Fuente expressed “blind faith” in his team ahead of their Euro 2024 semi-final against France, despite facing the formidable Kylian Mbappe. Spain, riding high on a streak of five consecutive wins and having scored 11 goals, are confident going into the match.
France, on the other hand, have struggled with their attack, scoring only from a penalty and two own goals, and failing to score from open play. Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann have faced criticism for their performances, but de la Fuente remains cautious, especially about the French captain.
“Players like Mbappe are unpredictable and can change the game at any moment. Even at 50%, he’s as good as any other player at 100%,” de la Fuente said, acknowledging Mbappe’s brilliance but expressing strong belief in his own team. “Mbappe is exceptional, but to me, my players are the best. I have blind faith in my team and trust we are ready to win.”
Spain’s midfielder Rodri echoed the sentiment, dismissing criticisms of Mbappe and focusing on the threat he poses. He also rejected the notion that France’s style is boring, emphasizing that they are in the semi-finals and deserve respect. “We just want to win and play our football, without worrying too much about what they do,” Rodri stated.
