Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has praised President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga’s call for dialogue aimed at addressing critical national issues. Kindiki expressed that ongoing dialogue is a positive step towards consensus-building and resolving key challenges facing the nation.
In a statement following the leaders’ agreement to commence a week-long dialogue starting Monday, Kindiki highlighted the potential of this initiative to address pressing national priorities. He noted that despite numerous challenges, Kenya has a history of overcoming obstacles, and emphasized the recent enactment of the IEBC Amendment Act of 2024 as a significant stride towards national stability and unity.
“The assent of the IEBC Amendment Act of 2024 today and the commitment by President Ruto and ODM Leader Raila Odinga to ongoing dialogue offer hope to a nation seeking consensus on critical issues such as job creation, youth empowerment, debt management, fiscal discipline, and anti-corruption efforts,” Kindiki stated.
His remarks followed President Ruto and Raila’s announcement of a forthcoming six-day multi-sectoral forum, scheduled to begin on Monday, July 15 and conclude on Saturday. This forum aims to facilitate national dialogue and seek lasting solutions to Kenya’s urgent challenges.
President Ruto underscored the forum’s importance in charting the country’s future direction, stating, “This six-day forum starting next Monday will propose a clear way forward for our nation.” Raila reiterated the forum’s significance, emphasizing the opportunity it presents for Kenyans to voice their concerns and contribute to finding sustainable solutions.
“Dialogue is our way out of the current crisis in our country,” Raila affirmed. “We have agreed to provide people with a platform to express themselves so that we can find lasting solutions.”
