Police are investigating the murder of a bar attendant in the Mathare slums of Nairobi. The body of 28-year-old Kezia Kigei was discovered outside a shop in the Kosovo area, just hours after her murder. Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the incident, which took place on the evening of Monday, July 8. Locals found the body, which had a swollen neck, and notified the police.
Nairobi police chief Adamson Bungei suggested that Kigei might have been killed elsewhere before her body was dumped at the site. According to her family, she had left for work in Mathare 4B on Sunday evening but never returned home. The body has been taken to the mortuary for an autopsy and further procedures.
In a separate incident, police are searching for a gang responsible for stabbing and killing 23-year-old Hillary Ouma during a robbery in the Mowlem area of Dandora, Nairobi. The incident occurred on Monday night while Ouma was walking to a nearby shop to buy food, accompanied by his girlfriend. Two men emerged from a dark alley, demanded cash and mobile phones, and during the confrontation, one of the assailants stabbed Ouma in the ribs. Ouma, who sustained three stab wounds, was pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby clinic. His girlfriend was unharmed, and the assailants fled the scene. Detectives are currently hunting for the gang responsible, and Ouma’s body is at the Mama Lucy Kibaki mortuary pending autopsy.
In another case in Eldoret’s Moiben area, a bodaboda rider named Peter Kosgei was murdered and robbed of his motorcycle. Kosgei had been hired by two passengers on Sunday afternoon to transport them to the Kapkorio area. During the trip, the passengers turned out to be thugs and attacked Kosgei with a panga. Kosgei sustained head injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Police recovered a blood-stained panga and sandals at the scene, which are linked to the suspects. No arrests have been made, and the motorcycle has not been recovered, but police are following strong leads. Kosgei’s body has also been moved to the mortuary for autopsy and other procedures.
