Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) Secretary General Davji Atellah has stated that the union’s social media page has been hacked. This follows a post on KMPDU’s X account on Monday, announcing the suspension of plans to occupy the Ministry of Health’s premises at Afya House in Nairobi.
KMPDU had announced plans to occupy the premises on Monday, July 8, to ensure that all medical interns are posted to health facilities nationwide in line with the 2017 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The announcement claimed that the suspension was prompted by ongoing discussions to ensure that the CBA agreement is met. In a swift rebuttal, Atellah termed the reports as false, stating that the account had been compromised and adding that the strike is still on.
“The union handle has been compromised, and we are trying our best to regain control of it and clean it up. We must overhaul the system, including addressing those who have hacked the union handles. We remain strong. We remain focused. Tukutane MoH,” he wrote on X.
